General Information on the Formula 1 Gp Schedule
Free Practice 1 (FP1) usually takes place on Friday and allows teams and drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit and conditions. The focus is on the car’s initial set-up, as well as gathering data on tyre performance and track characteristics.
Free Practice 2 (FP2) is typically held 2–3 hours after FP1 and provides teams with a further opportunity to refine the set-up and collect additional data. During this session, drivers may also carry out race simulations.
Free Practice 3 (FP3) generally takes place on Saturday before qualifying. It serves as the final opportunity for teams to make adjustments ahead of qualifying. FP3 is often used to confirm the effectiveness of set-up changes made based on data gathered during FP1 and FP2.
Qualifying determines the starting grid for the race. It consists of several knockout sessions (Q1, Q2 and Q3), with the slowest drivers eliminated after each stage until the fastest compete for pole position in the final session.
The race is the main event of the weekend and takes place on Sunday afternoon. Drivers compete over a predetermined number of laps, typically covering around 305 kilometres (approximately 190 miles). Pit stops, tyre management and race strategy play a crucial role in determining the final outcome.
